…Two days ago I managed to talk to Magellan personally! Finding his camp in the grey sector was not easy!

Magellan... he's even smaller than I thought. Jumpy bird-like movements, voice rustling like sand. Sometimes it felt like there were several voices, whispers in whispers... Magellan truly inspires awe.

Upon learning that I was from the Order, he willingly shared information about the plans of Ulysses to study the red sectors. Future expeditions will be headed by Magellan — his “call”, and I quote: “is cleaner”.

Magellan has been hearing this very “call” since childhood, he followed it around the whole world before Crossout. Realizing that I understand, he showed his old maps. They were simply amazing. I managed to sketch two of them with his permission. There is even a city lost in the jungle!...

Magellan spoke kindly of the Nomads. “They taught me not to listen, but to hear,” he said. When Crossout began, the “call” became too loud, it almost drove Magellan crazy. Only Ulysses could help him. He led Magellan and several Nomads into the mountains, where he somehow learned to control the “call” and use it. Perhaps it is this ability that allows them to find their way through the anomalies and return home.

With the Nomads, Magellan made the most incredible expeditions. Neither anomalies nor raiders could stop them. Damn, it feels strange to say, but the old world was one hell of a noose around Magellan's neck. Now neither borders nor wars can hold him back — he goes where he pleases. When Magellan talked about this, I heard joy in his voice.

We talked for almost two days, and during that time I learned a lot about the Wasteland. It feels like Magellan lived in the new world for a century, and not some twenty years.

In parting, he said:

“Everything is just a vector from one point to another. Draw your own.”
